Rapid Heritage & history
In 1936, Olle Westlund and a friend established Hestra Celluloid & Sportvarufabrik, the foundation of Isaberg Rapid AB. Initially the products consisted of celluloid covers for maps, hair curlers and bells. In 1941, Westlund formed a partnership with Simon Brick, who took on the responsibility for marketing and sales. Just two years later, they were obliged to develop their own stapling pliers to fasten the map cases.
The 'Rapid 1' was born.
In the years that followed, Rapid built a truly international network of distributors, many of whom remain members of the ‘Rapid family’, even to this day. Like all strong families, Rapid has solid foundations, in this case built on product excellence. That first product is now the K1 and is still available today in its original design - and still a top seller.
“Tack Tack” – Thank you for your support
To celebrate 75 years, Rapid has commissioned a special Thank you advert for all its customers using the Swedish word Tack, which means thank you, and of course it is also the sound Rapid staplers make, whether you are using them for the first or the thousandth time.
