Desktop Organisation Tips

Is your desktop disorganisation distracting you?

Are you hidden behind a pile of papers and other desktop clutter?

Most people don’t realise the time they waste in lost productivity, let alone the frustration that a disorganised desk can cause. The fact is, an untidy desk makes it very difficult to work efficiently.

These are some practical suggestions to help you:
File immediately
If you visit the Pendaflex Advisor regularly, you will know that we cannot say this enough: avoid pile-ups! We know it can be difficult to keep up with your filing when you get really busy but to keep your desk neat and tidy it’s imperative that you don’t allow your paperwork to grow into unmanageable piles.

Use the tops of credenzas and filing cabinets
Rather than clutter your desktop use the tops of credenzas and filing cabinets to store binders, lever arch files and catalogues.

Utilise shelf space
A shelf, not your desk is the proper place for items such as phone books, magazines and videos.
Create drop spots
Try to keep small pieces of paper, memos, notes etc. that are easy to loose in a tray away from your desk until you have time to look at them

Don’t get too personal
Avoid the urge to clutter your desk with too many personal items, such as photographs and knick knacks as they can get in the way.

Accessorise
Office organisers, such as mobile suspension filing units and plastic bins that can hold almost anything, are ideal for storing a wide range of office materials that might instead accumulate on your desk.
